The Morph Concept by Nokia: Mighty Morphin’ Power Handset!

The Nokia Research Center and the Cambridge Nanoscience Centre (UK) recently announced a high-tech concept that they developed together. It revolves on the use of Nanotechnology in our mobile handsets and the plethora of possibilities it has to offer. This is currently available for viewing at The Museum of Modern Art “Design and The Elastic Mind” exhibit.

More info and a video about The Morph after the jump…

Here’s some info I’ve have read about the Morph:

  • Nanotechnology on the palm of your hands - The mobile handset is said to have 10,000 transistors in a single fly hair made possible with Nanotechnology
  • Self-cleaning - made with dirt and water-proof material that just lets foreign substances to just slip away
  • Stretchable - the whole gadget can be shaped according to the user’s preference made possible with it’s nanoscale structure that lets it’s components to be stretched
  • Wearable - can be turned into a bracelet that can change it’s design according to the user’s preference

The concept’s really cool and all but i believe the technology needed will take years to develop. The development of Nanotechnology will really be a great leap not only in the cellphone industry but also in the medical field and other viable fields where it would be of use.

I personally want to see this technology on an iPod. Or possibly an all-in-one gadget that can perform most of the gadgets’ features that we have now plus the ability to be morphed into the users preferred form.
